Charlene Phelps, (d) past board member and Cleveland Eye Bank Foundation Planned Giver

I don’t think people think about bad eyesight or blindness too much, but if you can’t see, it makes life doubly hard. And if there’s anything we can do to identify and help prevent blindness and vision problems, we should be doing it.

Giving In The Future

Your gift can have an impact on the lives of others today and for generations to come as we work to raise funds to advance treatments and cure blinding eye diseases. Planned giving is a great way to give a substantial gift and accomplish your financial, tax or estate planning goals while leaving a lasting legacy in support of sight restoration. Our partners at the Cleveland Foundation will work with you and your professional advisors to provide assistance to ensure you choose the best approach for your charitable goals.

Bequests

A bequest to the Cleveland Eye Bank Foundation is one of the most direct ways to provide a future gift. Our partners at the Cleveland Foundation can coordinate with your legal professional to discuss specific bequest language for inclusion in your will or trust.

Charitable Gift Annuities

A charitable gift annuity is an irrevocable gift that returns an income stream to the donor or another beneficiary over their lifetime. The donor qualifies for an income tax charitable deduction for part of their gift, while the payments to the beneficiary may receive favorable tax treatment based on the asset used to fund the gift. At the end of the gift term, the remainder of the annuity would help meet the needs of the Cleveland Eye Bank Foundation.

Charitable Remainder Trusts

Charitable remainder trusts allow donors to create an income stream for themselves or other beneficiaries for a term of years, with the remainder of the trust corpus creating a gift to charity. Charitable remainder trusts are flexible enough to permit the use of a variety pf assets, including cash, securities, and real property.

Charitable Lead Trusts

As the opposite of a charitable remainder trust, a charitable lead trust provides payments to the Cleveland Eye Bank Foundation, and remaining assets would be transferred to other individuals or back to the donor at a future date.

Life Insurance Policies

Life insurance policies can be utilized as an excellent resource to support the Cleveland Eye Bank Foundation.

For more information on these options, please contact Debbie May-Johnson at the Cleveland Eye Bank Foundation at (216)232-EYES(3937).
